Privacy

The short version: there are no accounts, and we don't store your bills on a server.

No accounts, no tracking of who you are

CheckSplitting never asks you to sign up or log in. We don't collect names, emails, or phone numbers to use the app.

Your split lives in the link, not on our servers

When you create a split, all of its details (names, items, amounts, payment handles) are compressed into the part of the web address after the #. That fragment is never sent to a server, never logged, and never indexed by search engines. Whoever holds the link can open the split; nobody else can.

What stays on your device

Your own name and payment handles are saved in your browser's local storage so you don't retype them. You can clear them any time by clearing site data.

Payments happen in your own apps

We never touch money. Pay buttons open Venmo, Cash App, PayPal, or your bank app, and those apps' own privacy policies apply there.

Anonymous analytics

We use privacy-friendly, cookieless analytics to see aggregate usage (page views, rough location by country, and counts like how many splits are created or shared). It sets no cookies, doesn't identify you, and never records names, payment handles, or item details from a split.

Ads & offers

Content pages may show clearly-labeled ads or affiliate offers. These never appear next to a dollar amount on a split or payment screen.
